Breech base bottom twist-lock (also called breech
base twistlock, breech base container twist-lock or bottom twist lock) is bottom
twist-locks that used in combination with a raised breech base foundation or
foundation flush socket to secure the corner castings of containers on board of
a vessel. It has a shear load of 420 kN / tension load 500 kN and is available
with right or left locking mechanism.
A breech base twistlock is a special type of
bottom twistlock that locks the corner castings of a shipping container to a
breech base deck socket. Breech base twistlock can be easily inserted in the
socket by rotating and locks containers at the base using.
Unlike a dovetail twistlock, you insert the
breech base twistlock from above and rotate it to lock it into the foundation.
Then, you turn the handle to secure the container in position.
Attention: Only use 1 type on board of a vessel (left or right) to avoid confusion if the twistlock is in the locked position or open position.
